Asparagus plumosus mounted as kokedama
Asparagus plumosus, also known as the asparagus fern, is a graceful plant with fine, delicate foliage. When grown as a kokedama, a Japanese gardening technique, the plant is cultivated in a moss sphere that holds the substrate and roots.
**Maintenance mode:**
1. **Watering:** Soak the moss ball in water for approximately 10 to 15 minutes until thoroughly saturated, then allow to drain. Repeat approximately once a week, more frequently in summer.
2. **Lighting:** Place in a bright location without direct sunlight. Indirect light is ideal.
3. **Humidity:** Appreciates a humid environment, so mist the foliage regularly.
4. **Temperature:** Prefer moderate temperatures, between 18 and 24 °C.
5. **Maintenance:** Prune dead or yellowed stems to encourage growth. Repot or re-roast the kokedama every 1-2 years to refresh the substrate and maintain the plant's health.
This presentation method highlights the decorative aspect of the plant while remaining relatively easy to maintain.
