This is a wooden sculpture of a lanternfish, crafted with a rustic yet creative aesthetic. The fish's body, carved from wood, features an organic texture with details that mimic the curves and shapes of a real deep-sea fish.
At the front of the sculpture, the teeth are made from small nails, giving it a brutal, industrial appearance that accentuates the fish's predatory nature. Above its head, a real lightbulb is fixed, symbolizing the luminous esca used by the fish to lure its prey into the dark abyss. This bulb, slightly tilted forward, shines subtly, adding a touch of soft light to the whole.
The fish's eye is an intriguing detail: a polished, circular metal capsule serves as its eye. This recycled element gives a mechanical feel, evoking a world at the boundary between nature and technology.
The dorsal fin is a genuine seashell, its pearly texture offering a striking contrast to the raw wood of the body. The shell delicately captures the light, adding a more elegant and natural dimension to the sculpture.
The entire piece is mounted on an iron spike, firmly planted in a square wooden base. This simple yet robust base perfectly complements the work, emphasizing its handcrafted nature. With its simultaneously strange and fascinating appearance, this sculpture would make a beautiful decorative object, ideal for adding an artistic and original touch to any space.
